Bridge connecting Hibberdene and Port Shepstone closed

The Mzimayi River bridge that connects Hibberdene and Port Shepstone on the R102 south bound has been closed. Structural engineers from the Road Traffic Inspectorate that conducted the assessment found that the bridge suffered heavy damage as a result of the floods. “As a safety precaution, we decided to close the bridge indefinitely. People travelling from Hibberdene from Port Shepstone and vice versa must travel via the toll road”, said Mr Michael Inggs from the RTI in Port Shepstone.
